State Board, CBSE and the rest
Chennai has a large number of Tamil Nadu State Board schools alongside CBSE, ICSE and a smaller group of international schools. Plural does not teach to any of these syllabi, so a child from any board fits into the same batch.
Tamil Nadu State Board
State Board public exams are conducted by the Directorate of Government Examinations, which runs the SSLC exam in Class 10 and the Higher Secondary exam in Class 12. Under the State Education Policy announced in 2025, the separate Class 11 public exam was dropped, so Classes 10 and 12 are now the two board years. Timetables and results are published on the Directorate's website.
Tamil Nadu has also started teaching technology in its own schools. TN SPARK (Tamil Nadu Schools Programme for AI, Robotics and Knowledge of Online Tools) was piloted in government schools for Classes 6 to 9, with bilingual Tamil and English textbooks covering algorithms, block coding in tools like Scratch, and creative uses of AI. The School Education Department portal carries official updates. If your child has met these ideas at school, Plural is a natural next step into typed code and longer projects.
CBSE and ICSE schools
CBSE schools across the city can offer Artificial Intelligence as a skill subject in Classes 9 and 10; see the CBSE website for the current scheme. ICSE students usually meet programming through Computer Applications. In both cases, school time for building projects is limited, which is where weekly practice helps.
A Chennai school year, and where a weekly class fits
Between school, tuition and the occasional music or sports class, Chennai children have full weeks. Adding a coding class that needs a trip across the city is often what makes families say no. Plural classes are live on Zoom, so your child joins from home in Anna Nagar, Adyar, Velachery or Tambaram without anyone spending the evening in traffic.
Batches run on weekday evenings and weekends. We share the current timings on WhatsApp when you reserve, and you pick what suits your child.
For State Board families, the key months are February and March. In the 2025-26 cycle, the Class 12 public exams ran through March and the SSLC exams from mid-March into early April, with practicals in February. A sensible plan for a Class 10 or Class 12 student is to build steadily from June to December, then ease off for the exam stretch and come back in summer. Younger children usually carry on through the year.
The northeast monsoon also shapes the Chennai calendar, and heavy-rain days sometimes close schools. Online classes keep running from home, though we are flexible if your family has more pressing things to deal with.

A quiz or spelling game in Tamil script for younger siblings, a good first lesson in how computers store other languages.

Combine metro and bus routes to plan a trip to school, tuition or the beach with the fewest changes.
Heat alert
Use weather data to warn when it is too hot for outdoor play, and suggest the cooler hours of the day.

Each month includes 4 live classes of 90 minutes for ₹5,000, in a batch capped at 8. Families who want closer attention can choose the Squad plan at ₹10,000 a month, with only 4 children in the batch. Your child attends the first 2 classes; if it is not a fit, we return the full fee.
