Most children in Delhi study under CBSE. The Delhi government's own schools, run by the Directorate of Education, are affiliated to CBSE, and so are most of the private schools parents shortlist. Across the borders, many government schools in Gurugram follow the Board of School Education Haryana and those in Noida follow the UP Board (UPMSP), while private schools in both cities are largely CBSE, with a number of ICSE, IB and Cambridge schools, especially in Gurugram.

CBSE has been steadily adding AI to school. Artificial Intelligence is offered as a skill subject (code 417) in Classes 9 and 10, and from the 2026–27 session CBSE has introduced a Computational Thinking and AI curriculum for Classes 3 to 8, with student and teacher handbooks on its academic website. The Delhi government is pushing in the same direction. In December 2025 the Directorate of Education launched Delhi AI Grind, an innovation programme in which students of Classes 6 to 9 and 11 in its schools work on real city problems such as mobility, climate, health and public safety.

Where school gives an introduction, Plural gives depth and time to build. School days in NCR start early, and for many families the school bus or the drive is a long part of the day, more so for anyone crossing between Delhi, Gurugram and Noida. Some Delhi government schools run in two shifts, so a child may be in class until the afternoon. Add tuition and homework, and it is easy to see why an activity that needs travel rarely lasts the year.

For CBSE families the exam calendar is predictable. Class 10 and 12 board exams begin in February, and from 2026 Class 10 students also have an optional second board exam in May to improve scores in up to three subjects. If your child is in a board year, talk to us about timing before you start.

Winter adds one Delhi-specific factor. When air quality turns severe and GRAP restrictions apply, the Directorate of Education has moved younger classes to hybrid mode, as it did in November 2025. A class at home carries on as usual, because it never depended on the commute.
